After killing my second 2.8, I've decided to go all out and drop a 350/5.7 Chevy into the XJ. Before jumping to this decision I read just about every forum thread on the subject, emailed about a dozen XJ owners that have done this.

The funny thing is that just about every person that feels the swap is a mistake has never done it. They all seem to "know" someone that's tried it and hated it. The people that have actually done it say it's the best thing they've ever done to their XJ.

You must have some fab and mechanical skills to do this but you don't need to be an engineer or certified mechanic.

As of 01-07-08 I have the Advance Adapters motor mounts welded in place. I have the 99 Vortec 5.7 block back from the machine shop. The heads will be back from another machine shop in a week. I still have to get the '89 700r4 to the tranny shop so they can rebuild it and add the adapter for the NP231.

I have an extra 5.7 block that I'm going to drop in to plumb the exhaust and make sure I have clearence in the front for a thicker radiator.
